"You got a Hyoi Pear! This special bait allows you to take control of seagulls! Choose your Bait Bag on the Items screen and set it to [Y], [Z], or [X] to use it. When controlling seagulls, tap [A] to flap your wings and accelerate. Press [R] to quit."
The Hyoi Pear is an item in The Wind Waker. When one of these special pears is placed on Link's head, a seagull from nearby will swoop down and eat the pear. After this, Link takes control of the seagull's movements, and can cause it to fly wherever he wants.[2] Since the seagull is smaller than Link and can fly, the Hyoi Pear can be used to get to previously inaccessible places, hit switches, and pick up items or Rupees. Using the Hyoi Pear to control a seagull is necessary to find one of the Triforce Charts. The pear can be found commonly at Beedle's Shop Ship for 10 Rupees,[3][4] and is stored in Link's Bait Bag. The pear can only be used outside in the overworld, and not in dungeons or anywhere indoors.
